Day 1: Sun City

Arriving at OR Tambo International Airport, a driver will be waiting to transfer you to Sun City. After checking into your hotel, the rest of the day is spent at your own leisure.

Cabanas hotel is situated at the Sun City Waterworld Lake, offering guests a contemporary twist and great ‘base’ to explore the resort. As the sun sets over the open spaces and rolling lawns the nights begin at the Cabanas Pool Deck, with chic cocktails and a vibrant island setting.

Day 2: Sun City

Today is spent entirely at your own leisure. There is so much to do at the Sun City Resort and there is sure to be an activity that would suit you.

You can take walks around the resort, play golf, visit the crocodile farm, arrange a Hot Air Balloon flight, laze by the pool, visit the valley of the waves, try you luck at the casino or enjoy lunch at a restaurant before catching a movie. 

Note all the activities mentioned above will be for your own account.

Day 3: Johannesburg

This morning after a leisurely breakfast you will check out from your hotel.  A driver will be waiting to transfer you to your hotel in Johannesburg. After checking into your room, the rest of the day is spent at your own leisure.

Day 4: Johannesburg

On this full day tour your guide, who was born and raised in Soweto, will take you past all the hotspots in Soweto. The tour will take you deep into the township culture, so you can enjoy a personal experience of how vibrant and lively this part of Johannesburg really is. 

On our way to Soweto we pass by the National Football Stadium City, which hosted the opening and closing ceremonies of the World Cup 2010. We enter the Diepkloof area, where we will take a walk past vendors selling just about anything.In Orlando West we visit Vilakazi Street- drive past the former home
of Nelson Mandela and past the home of Archbishop Desmond Tutu. You will have an opportunity to read about the Soweto uprising on 16 June 1976.
On that tragic day an innocent little boy called Hector Pieterson gave up his life and kick-started the liberation of South Africa.

During this tour we will pass by the Mandela House. A visit into the museum is optional.

We continue our tour driving into one of the shanty towns where you get to interact with some of the locals.

By now you will have seen the good, the bad and the ugly facets of Soweto. We drive past the Soweto Campus of the Johannesburg University and end our tour with a stop at the largest hospital in the world: Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital.

Apartheid museum

After Lunch we visit the world famous apartheid museum. Here you will learn about the history and struggle of South Africa during apartheid.

Johannesburg

Like to get to know Johannesburg better? This afternoon tour is perfect for it! We take you to the top sites Johannesburg has to offer. Some of the areas our tour passes through are Hillbrow , Central Johannesburg, Braamfontein and Newtown.

We start your introduction to Jozi with a view of the impressive 269 metre Telkom Tower, as seen on many postcards of Johannesburg. We then enter the inspiring Constitution Hill – and Court (when not in session) Political activists like Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi were once held here. During a tour inside you will learn about some of the legal history of Johannesburg.

On our way to Newtown we pass by the longest southern African bridge, named Nelson Mandela bridge. At Mary Fitzgerald Square you can walk on
the Jazz Walk of Fame.

We end this tour with a visit to the Carlton Centre, also known as the ‘Top of Africa’. There a lift will elevate you 50 stories for an amazing and total view over the city.

Day 5: Karongwe Private Game Reserve

Today you check out from your hotel for your transfer to OR Tambo Airport, you will have a short flight to Hoedspruit Airport in Kruger.

Your driver will be waiting to transfer your to Karongwe Private Game Reserve,  arriving at the River Lodge you are checked into your rooms and have time to freshen up before your afternoon safari drive. After the drive, you return to the lodge for dinner.

Day 6: Karongwe Private Game Reserve

The day starts with an early wake-up call between 5:00 am and 5:30 am. Tea, coffee and rusks are enjoyed together before heading out at first light. While seeing big game is always exhilarating, there are many other smaller species that are also captivating, and birding enthusiasts will be delighted at the approximately 350 species of birds recorded on the reserve. Halfway through the game drive, there’s a stop for hot drinks and snacks, before returning to the lodge at around 9:00 am for a full breakfast.

Throughout the day, it’s likely you will see wildlife around the lodge – nyala antelope and vervet monkeys are frequent visitors, though seeing some of the Big Five is also not uncommon.
At around 3:30 pm, everyone gathers for a decadent high tea, before heading out with your ranger and tracker for the afternoon game drive through the reserve. En route, you’ll stop for a sundowner drink and will have a chance to stretch your legs as you watch the sun set over the distant peaks of the Drakensberg mountains.


As darkness falls, the nocturnal animals of the bush come out. The skilled tracker will scan the landscape using a spotlight, which illuminates animals’ eyes. A variety of completely different species can be seen on the night drive back to the lodge. Arrival is at the lodge is usually around 7:00 pm, allowing time to freshen up before enjoying a sumptuous dinner.

Day 7: Cape Town

The final day of your Safari will see you go on one last safari drive before breakfast is served. After breakfast there is time to pack before checking out, and being transferred back Hoedspruit Airport for your flight to Cape Town

On arrival in Cape Town, you will be met by our transfer driver who will transport you to your Hotel that is ideally situated at the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront

Day 8: Cape Town

Departing from your hotel via the Atlantic Seaboard in the direction of Hout Bay. It is a lively, trendy part of the city where the beauty of the surroundings is matched only by the beauty of the people.

The suburb of Llandudno is dramatically situated against giant granite boulders which keep it all but hidden from the rest of the Penininsula.

The historic and picturesque town of Hout Bay has always been a popular destination. A seaside village that is alive with the sounds and smells of the forest and the sea.

Enjoy the crisp, clear air and spectacular view from one of the Cape’s most visited attractions, Cape Point. After lunch visit one of only two breeding colonies of the Jackass penguins on the African mainland in the charming naval town of Simons Town.
